GASHA
Newsletter Spring 2004
Greetings GASHA Members!
It may not
look like it but spring is just around the corner. The broodmares will soon be foaling and show
bills are starting to arrive in the mail!
After such a tough winter, it is a good-feeling to think about the
upcoming summer. Enclosed in this
newsletter is information about the Spring Meeting, 2004 membership renewal
forms, election of officers, futurities, Hi point awards and the GASHA website. I also have a new email address which is goldenview@earthlink.net .
Say a prayer for all those families
who still have loved ones stationed abroad and to bring them all home safely
soon!
Wishing
you many gold babies,
Suzie

Spring Meeting 2004
The Spring
Meeting will again be held at the Springs Inn, Lexington,
Kentucky, on Saturday April 17, 2004.
The dinner/meeting will begin at 6 PM. As always, there will be a prime rib buffet
available for $13.95 or you can order off the menu. The agenda for the meeting will include the
election of officers, horse show information, futurities, sweepstakes,
memberships, website and any other pertinent information. Make it a double weekend – plan to attend the
Spring Tattersalls Sale and the GASHA Spring Meeting.
After the meeting there will be an
auction of donated items. This auction
is the main fundraiser for GASHA. The money raised from this fund raiser helps
support GASHA activities such as the sweepstakes and the futurities. Please
bring an item for the auction! It can always be used as a write-off on your
taxes! You can also contact Dave
Swindler at (419) 562-5705 or e-mail him at horseman@cros.net
to see what items have already been donated or ideas on what to donate!
A block of rooms have been reserved
and will be held until March 15, 2004. Please make your reservations ASAP. The phone number to reserve your room is
1-800-354-9503 or (859) 277-5751. The
Springs Inn special rate for GASHA will be $55.00 per night for double
occupancy. Rooms will be available Friday, April 16, 2004, for early
arrivals. Anyone who is active in GASHA
should plan to attend!
Election of Officers
The election
of officers will be held during the Spring Meeting. Since there are many items on the agenda for
the meeting, a panel of officers has already been chosen. Enclosed is a listing of the names
chosen. This list is not inclusive and
is open to additional nominations. If
you would like to be added to the ballot, for ANY OFFICE, please contact me at
(724) 423-7627. If you cannot attend the
meeting and would like to vote, you may do so by the absentee ballot provided. Return your ballot to me at the address
listed. Please have these votes in to me
by April 5, 2004 so they can
be counted at the meeting.

High Point Awards
The High
Point Jr. Exhibitor award goes once again to Shannon Harris and Visa Gold. Congratulations to this great team. This year’s Adult winner was Doreen Jones and
Gold Commander. GASHA Wishes you many
blue ribbons for the 2004 show season. Enclosed
are Hi point award forms. This year the
Hi-point award competition will cost $5.00.
Please make checks payable to GASHA and send it along with your
form. This is to help defer the cost of
the year end awards. You can win this
prestigious award by showing your golden saddlebred in open competition. All points and all divisions are combined to
bring us one winner in each category – adult and Jr. Exhibitor. This year’s winners will receive a beautiful
plaque. For additional information
contact Sheri Barnhart at 24729 East U.S. 12, Edwardsburg,
MI 49112.
World Horse Show
Information
on the GASHA World Show will be forthcoming in the summer newsletter. The location of the horse show will be part
of the agenda for the Spring Meeting again.
If you have any input on this topic, bring it to the meeting. However, it is not too early to send in your
contribution form for the show. Mail
your donations to Megan Pickett at 6525 Fayette Rd,
New London, OH, 44851.
Get of Gold and Iowa Futurities
Contact Hilda Menzies for
information on the Get of Gold Futurity.
This is an American Saddlebred chartered futurity. You need NOT be a member of GASHA to
show here. Only one parent of the
resulting foal must be gold. The foal does
not have to be gold to show! It is
another place to show your colt, advertise the offspring of your stallion and
win some dough!!! This futurity offers
weanling, yearling and two-year old in hand classes. Contact Hilda at (810) 329-2728 or e-mail her
at hgm329@yahoo.com .
If interested in joining the Iowa
Futurity program, contact Phylis Lang at leonlang@netins.net
or (563) 485-3559. These must be
golden saddlebred horses and you MUST be a member of GASHA to show
here.
Membership Registration
A reminder to
all GASHA members: Please send in your
membership forms for 2004 ASAP. Forms
are enclosed with this newsletter.
Memberships are $25 per year.
Family members can also join at this rate but there will be only one
vote permitted. Life memberships are
available at a one time fee of $250.
Remember that you must be a member of GASHA to participate in any
futurities or sweepstakes that is promoted by GASHA and also the World Show! If you’re already a member – pass it to
another golden saddlebred enthusiast!!
GASHA Website
The GASHA
website is now being co-managed by Erica Valladolid and Jim Hissem. Erica has added many new items to the
website. One new change is on the Links
page. This page can now link you to any
GASHA breeder or enthusiast who has a web site.
If you would like your farm to be included on this site, contact Erica
at minja32@yahoo.com or www.ValWebCreations.com . Don’t
forget to add your stallion or horses for sale to this site also. It is a great way to advertise at NO COST TO
MEMBERS!
