Golden Saddlebred News – June 2005
Submitted by David Swindler
The spring meeting
was held after the Saturday Tattersalls sale, at the Springs Inn in Lexington, Ky April 16, 2005.
Members present were welcomed by the President David Swindler. David thanked
the members for allowing him to help the club for many years and how he looked
forward to a new president and leadership to see Gasha grow more over the next
few years. Gary Pickett also addressed the membership and spoke about the need for
younger members to get involved and be active as over the years the founding
members have died or are not able to attend meeting and be as active as they
once were. So having younger committed members is a must.

There was a discussion of how over the last 10-years the registered saddlebred
numbers have had ups and downs but the number of gold horses registered has continued to be
2-percent each year. Discussion was held about contacting all who owned gold horses to see if
they would be interested in joining Gasha and showing as well as being active members. This
will be done by post card mailings. The cost to come out of the general fund. The
auction was held with some truly nice articles from collectibles, books,
jewelry and Paintings. We had a great auction which was run by Scott Norris and proud to say he helped
raise one of our larger amounts over the last few years. This was enough to cover the
mailings for new members and have some left over.
David Allen Swindler spoke on the price to have Gasha patches made and the new logo as
designed by Richard Valladolid will be sent to David Allen to see if it changes the price, if not an
order will be placed and once we have then they along with the Gasha T-Shirt will be listed
on the web-site for sale. The funds raised by these sales helps with our cost
for shows and prize monies. So please check then out and buy them as they make great gifts and help
show us off out in public. They help get interest in our gold horses!
Cliff Wismer spoke of the Golden Horses from California which had been invited to ride during
Presidents Bush inaugural parade. As one of the horses he had sold was present he enjoyed event,
but stated how cold it felt being outside for hours waiting and watching. Cliff
being from Canada we all thought he should have been used to the cold. Cliff attends all our meetings
and although he has sold all his horses he attends the sale, we are betting that sooner than
later he’ll buy another horse.
The fall meeting will again be held Saturday night after the Tattersall's Sale, October 29, 2005.
As arrangements are made with The Springs Inn in Lexington, Ky. At a great room rate of only $55.00 singles or doubles,
and we can have the meeting room for free just by ordering off the menu or the buffet.
Only 10-room have been held so please make plans early to attend. The
contact information is 800-354-9503. Hope to see many members there.
Doreen Jones and Scott Norris are proud to announce that Gold Commander, by Harvest
Commander has sired another gold baby out of the dam Zafirah’s April Wildphire (formerly
registered as “Wild April”, by PHI Slama Jama. Other foals are expected by Gold Commander by the following well
bred mares -Sultan’s Emmy Award, by Sultans Inferno and out of Perfect Gold.
This foal will be owned by Sharon and Peter Stewart of Alderson, WV. Doreen also has the mare Desirable Chestnut,
by Wings Desirable, by Flight Time with a gold baby expected this season.
Blue Pine Stables has moved to Cardington,
Ohio. Owner Dave Swindler will be building a new barn shortly with an indoor arena. As we get older and find time
is less as well as the cost of showing horses has risen this farm will be
smaller with less stalls. The first two horses to arrive will be Broadways
Golden Kaboom-(Buddy) a 3-year gold gelding who has already show open and Gasha
classes winning many ribbons and several Gasha Championships or Reserves.
Better Than Bourbon – (Whiskey)
a six year golden gelding who has won over dozen Gasha World Championships will
also be there. Just getting a new place
up and running we may not be able to hit as many shows this year but hope to
attend several and of course the Gasha World Show , which will be held in
October at the Blue Ribbon Classic in, Ohio.
