Via the ASB club of NCASHA. She was showing off her buckskin mare Sacajawea by CH Harvest Commander. Mr.Earl Kelly of Oakdale was also part of the exhibition showing off a yearling golden filly “Just Too Sweet”, by Bold And Gold. This filly is currently being trained by David Becker at Rainwater Farm in Fresno, Ca. , hopes are she’ll make a big splash in the California Futurity to be held in September. The Public this way were not only exposed to Saddlebreds but the wonderful world of color to enhance them. Another sale from out west came from Phillis Hawkins. Phillis has placed another gold 3-year old stud, IRS Express Male by Key Coloration, by the Star Lady’s Golden Delight by the old Stonewall King line bred gold stud-Harbor Stardust Lights, to Sherri Sharpe of Novato, Ca. We look forward to glowing reports on this new pair as they prepare for the next show season. The Gasha World Show is to be held in October at the Blue Ribbon Classic to be held in Brookville, Ohio. All the updates will be written up on the next article so all our members can be aware in case they don’t get a show bill. The growth at the Gasha World Show has been every year and we are hoping for more. Please plan to attend., I understand Megan Pickett had purchased some special awards for different classes. Horse care news that might be helpful for you! Now we have tried many things to care for horses but this year learned one that helps the horse and us. With west nile being more and more found the concerns are real and for those of us who love our horses we watch out for this. We have taken fabric dryer sheets and tied one in the mane and one in the tail on several of the horses that spend lots of time on the pasture and since doing this we have not found any bug bites on them. At the shows we have tried to pour downey into the spray-bottle with water approx. 20%, sprayed it on and it seemed to help keep the flies and other bugs from making our horses miserable at the outdoor shows. This also seemed effective on the trail rides. Now yes some people asked funny questions but all were interested in it. One of our riding friend Marge swears that by putting a dryer sheet in her shirt pocket she never was bitten by any mosquitoes on the 5-miles we rode. You might want to try this and see if you have good luck as we have this year. Another easy thing to care for is our horses are their ears. To help keep down bug bites and laid eggs in their ears, about every 2-weeks take some Vaseline and rub it inside the ears. It helps sooth the old bites cleaning the surface as applied and if done every 2-weeks you won’t find signs of new bites: I have seen some of our members and others at different shows and can’t remember all their placings as I busy showing or caring for horses, but if you have any news please share it with our members. Contact myself at (horseman@cros.net of go to our web site www.gasha.org) we’d like to get the news out to not just our members but everyone. After all when your showing one of the most beautiful horses in the world we should brag on it! |
