GASHA Newsletter
Spring 2005

Greetings GASHA Members!

Maybe that Pennsylvania groundhog was wrong.  It is starting to feel like spring here.  Rain, Rain and more Rain!  Show bills and futurity forms are starting to arrive in the mail!  After such a wet winter, it is a good-feeling to think about the upcoming summer.  Enclosed in this newsletter is information about the Spring Meeting, 2005 membership renewal forms, election of officers, futurities and the NEW Hi point awards program.

Say a prayer for all those families who still have loved ones stationed abroad and to bring them all home safely soon!

Wishing you many gold babies and Blue Ribbons,
Suzie Mamrose
GASHA Secretary

Spring Meeting 2005

The Spring Meeting will again be held at the Springs Inn, Lexington, Kentucky, on Saturday April 16, 2005.  The dinner/meeting will begin at 6 PM or after the last TSE Tattersalls sale horse runs through the auction.  As always, there will be a prime rib buffet available for $13.95 or you can order off the menu.  The agenda for the meeting will include the election of officers, horse show information, futurities, sweepstakes, memberships, website and any other pertinent information.  Make it a double weekend – plan to attend the Spring Tattersalls Sale and the GASHA Spring Meeting!

After the meeting there will be an auction of donated items.  This auction is the main fundraiser for GASHA. The money raised from this fund raiser helps support GASHA activities such as the sweepstakes and the futurities.  Please bring an item for the auction!   It can always be used as a write-off on your taxes! You can also contact Dave Swindler at (614) 296-3044 or e-mail him at horseman@cros.net to see what items have already been donated or ideas on what to donate!

A block of rooms have been reserved under the GASHA name.  Please make your reservations ASAP.  The phone number to reserve your room is 1-800-354-9503 or (859) 277-5751.  The Springs Inn special rate for GASHA will be $55.00 per night for double occupancy.  Rooms will be available Friday, April 15, 2005, for early arrivals.  Anyone who is active in GASHA should plan to attend!

Election of Officers

The election of officers will be held during the Spring Meeting.  Since there are many items on the agenda for the meeting, a panel of officers has already been chosen.  Enclosed is a listing of the names chosen.  This list is not inclusive and is open to additional nominations.  If you would like to be added to the ballot, for ANY OFFICE, please contact me at (724) 423-7627.  If you cannot attend the meeting and would like to vote, you may do so by the absentee ballot provided.  Return your ballot to me at the address listed.  Please have these votes in to me by April 5, 2005 so they can be counted at the meeting.

World Horse Show

Information on the GASHA World Show will be forthcoming in the summer newsletter.  The GASHA World Show will be held at the Blue Ribbon Fall Classic Horse Show held in Brookville, Ohio.  The show dates are October 14-16, 2005.  Show Bills will be mailed out when they become available.  Please contact me if you need extras or know someone who might want to attend.

Megan Pickett is looking for some help on getting sponsorships for the World Show.  If you would like to assist her in this important goal, please contact her at (419) 929-0609.  Also, it is not too early to send in your contribution forms for the show.  Mail your donations to Megan Pickett at 6525 Fayette Rd, New London, OH, 44851.

GASHA Iowa Futurity and ASHA Get of Gold Futurity

If interested in joining the GASHA Iowa Futurity program, contact Phylis Lange at leonlang@netins.net or (563) 485-3559.  These must be golden saddlebred horses and you MUST be a member of GASHA to show here. This futurity is held at the Iowa State Fair in August.

Suzanne Mamrose is the new futurity secretary for the ASHA Get of Gold Futurity.  This is an American Saddlebred chartered futurity.  You need NOT be a member of GASHA to show here.  One parent of the foal must be gold.  The foal does not have to be gold to show!  This futurity is held at the Blue Ribbon Fall Classic Horse Show in Brookville, Ohio, in October.  For more information on the ASHA Get of Gold Futurity contact either Hilda Menzies at (810) 329-2728 or Email her at hgm329@yahoo.com or Suzie Mamrose at (724) 423-7627 or Email at smamrose@usmicro-solutions.com.

These futurities are another place to show your colts, advertise the offspring of your stallion and breeding program, and win some dough!!!  Both futurities offer weanling, yearling and two-year old in hand classes.  Please support these futurity programs!

Membership Registration – New for 2005!

A reminder to all GASHA members:  Please send in your membership forms for 2005 ASAP.  Memberships run January to January.  Forms are enclosed with this newsletter.  Individual memberships are $25/per year and family membership is $35/year.  These rates enable all members to get the chance to vote in the elections of officers!  Life memberships are available at a one time fee of $250.  Remember that you must be a member of GASHA to participate in any futurities or sweepstakes that is promoted by GASHA and also to show at the World Show!  If you’re already a member – pass it to another golden saddlebred enthusiast!!
